Privacy Policy

This policy explains what New London Residents Directory may receive, how that limited data is handled, and what choices visitors have. No account is required, and the reference to New London, Connecticut public rolls and directory collections is not a personal record about you.

Information You Enter

A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. New London Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, the information visible to us is the content of your message, and it is used to answer that message.

Routine Technical Logs

The hosting service may record ordinary server details, such as an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and time stamps. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which New London directory pages are useful. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.

How Limited Data Is Used

We use the limited information for site operation, troubleshooting, traffic counts, and page improvement. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from this information.

External Records and Search Links

Pages may point to New London offices, Connecticut records portals, libraries, archives, and third-party search tools. The outside service's privacy policy controls information submitted there, not this policy. The same applies to sponsored results, which are supplied by another company.

For public-agency records, the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§1-200–1-259, governs access and exemptions. It does not give this private reference possession or control of a City Clerk, assessor, court, or vital record.

Who May Receive It

Hosting and site-support providers may process server logs while keeping the service running. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the routine technical data described above. Disclosure may also occur when valid legal process requires it, but not for an unrelated purpose.

Security and Retention

The connection is encrypted, and server logs are retained only for as long as the purposes above call for them. Because the service has no accounts, it does not maintain a visitor password or user profile that could be exposed here.

Visitors Under 18

New London Residents Directory is intended for adults rather than children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If a minor has sent information, please use the Contact page so it can be reviewed and deleted.

Your Connecticut Privacy Choices

Connecticut's Data Privacy Act, SB 6 / Public Act 22-15, took effect July 1, 2023. The Attorney General's guidance describes access, correction, deletion, portability, third-party disclosure, and universal opt-out rights for covered businesses. The law generally excludes government entities and publicly available data, so it is not an erase request for a New London City Clerk, assessor, voter, court, or other public record.

A covered business generally has 45 days to respond to a request and may have a further 45 days when an extension is allowed. Because this reference keeps little personal data, a request through the Contact page can be checked against the mailbox and technical logs. Requests to obtain, correct, or challenge a public record belong with its custodian under the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§1-200–1-259. Connecticut's Address Confidentiality Program / Safe at Home and Voter Registry Privacy Program can also limit release of eligible actual addresses or voter entries.
