1. The Nature of This Reference
New London Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections about people who live or have lived in New London, Connecticut. It does not host government records. It is not affiliated with the New London City Clerk, Assessor, courts, libraries, or any other records custodian. New London County is a geographic and historical label, not a separate county recording office.
2. Lawful Use Rules
Use the service only in a lawful and respectful way. You may not use the service or any result reached through it to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or hurt another person
- Locate a person who is protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft, fraud, or a related offense
- Make a decision regulated by the FCRA, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
- Scrape, reproduce, or republish the content at scale
- Disrupt the service or attempt to defeat its security
3. No Consumer Reports
New London Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither the material here nor a result from a linked search tool is a consumer report. None of it may be used to assess eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.
4. Outside Links and Services
Government portals and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own terms and privacy policies. New London Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, prices, or data practices and is not responsible for those matters.
5. No Warranty
The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that a statement is accurate, complete, or current, or that an outside portal will remain available or return a correct result.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages that arise from using this service or a linked resource. This includes a decision someone makes from a record found through a linked source.
7. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that result from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.
8. Copyright and Site Material
The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to a page and quote a short excerpt with attribution. Reposting a full page or copying the material systematically is not permitted.
9. Changes to the Terms
A revised version may be posted on this page. If you continue using the service after a change is posted, you accept the revised terms.
10. Restricting Access
Access may be blocked or limited for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service. The operators may take that step at their discretion and without advance notice.
11. Connecticut Law
Connecticut law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record access questions are governed by the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§1-200–1-259, including its statutory definitions, response rules, copy limits, and exemptions. The Act generally permits state-agency copies up to 25 cents per page and municipal or public-agency copies up to 50 cents per page; a denial is generally issued in writing within four business days, with an appeal generally due within 30 days. See the official Connecticut FOI Act page. Those rules do not turn this private reference into a government custodian.
12. Severability
If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
